How to write product descriptions that sell

5 min read · Updated 2026-06-25

The photo attracts, but the description closes. Text that just says "White t-shirt, size M" wastes the chance to sell. A good description connects the product with what the customer wants to achieve, resolves their doubts and nudges them to buy.

1. Sell the benefit, not just the feature

A feature is a fact ("100% cotton"); a benefit is what that means for the customer ("cool and comfortable all day"). Mention the feature, but always pair it with the benefit: that is the real reason to buy.

2. Answer doubts before they ask

Think about what your customer needs to know to decide: sizes, materials, measurements, care, what is included. If the description answers those doubts, you avoid repetitive messages and reduce returns from wrong expectations.

3. A simple structure that works

  1. One sentence that sparks interest (the main benefit).
  2. Two or three lines with details and benefits.
  3. The practical data: sizes, materials, measurements.
  4. A call to action ("Message us to reserve yours").

You do not need to be a professional writer. By answering what it is, what it is for and why it benefits the customer, you already have a description that sells far more than a simple name and price.
